ATPA Assessment Guide

ATPA is not another multiple-choice prelim. It is an assessment tied to advanced predictive analytics modules, and the official ATPA page treats SRM and PA as assumed prior knowledge along with Probability (P) and VEE Mathematical Statistics.

The SOA describes ATPA as e-learning modules and an assessment that build the ability to employ selected data-science and predictive-analytics techniques to solve business problems and communicate the solution effectively.

As of May 7, 2026, the ATPA page lists a fee of $1,255 and points candidates to the learning objectives and sample assessment. The submission-schedule page shows ATPA running in cohort-style windows rather than as a standard exam sitting.

PA is the business-report exam that follows the SRM statistics foundation. ATPA is where the ASA pathway pushes further into advanced predictive analytics topics and expects you to work from a stronger modeling base.

That means ATPA prep should lean into model construction choices, explainability, advanced validation logic, and disciplined communication under looser project-style conditions than a standard CBT exam.

Do not treat ATPA as something you can cram the week after PA. The better approach is to leave PA with reusable habits: clear writeups, model-comparison discipline, comfort with defensible limitations, and enough statistical maturity that a new modeling task does not feel like starting from zero.
